Facebook – Activity log

Something that has bugged me with the activity log is the ability to go back directly to a specific year AND month. The main reason for this is when I fall behind with updating my WordPress blog to match my Facebook posts it requires to much effort painfully paging down through the activity log to find specific posts. Same for when I go through my photo archives and come across pictures and would like to review the related Facebook posts where they were used – if that makes sense.

As of the start of this year I no longer have the above issues because I’ve connected my WordPress blog to Facebook so whenever I post to my blog the WP system automatically cross posts to Facebook. Basically I’ve halved the publishing workload – that’s good.

Having said that I still have a lot of catching up to do which requires laboriously paging through the Facebook activity log. Well…I discovered a nifty way to go directly back to a year AND month in Facebook history AKA the activity log. Also to my advantage is the way I archive my photos.

That folder tree is 20 years old, I started before most with a Agfa ePhoto 1680 1MP digital camera (yes…1 megapixels) that took lovely photos. The photo dates will usually match the Facebook published date and I’ve now found a way to zero in on the month of any year by directly entering a URL appended with the date request, for example:

https://www.facebook.com/alanm52/timeline/2017/7

will return all the July 2017 posts.

That’s going to make it a lot easier to catch up with the ‘not done’ backlog.
