Caribbean market - OMG

Never ever in all my years going there have I seen it so crowded. Gave up doing the usual right turn which was backed up past Borg street, pulled out went past and U-turned back into the left turn which itself was backed up but not to bad but still took a while before I handed over my dollar coin. Inside was a sea of vehicles right across to the factories, worked my way around to the back carpark and all good - last photo.

This is the left turn and much better that the right which is backed up way past Borg street - WTF

I'm in but hardly moving, still had to wait for quite some time...why is it like this ?

Phew...here we are !!!

LED lights x 3 with RCU video clip

LED lights x 3 with RCU

As posted I want to modify one of the lights to power LED string or rice lights and if it works out I can offer this as a lighting option with remote control for the night lights.

As posted this is what I got from the market for $10.

Pulled one light apart, unsoldered the battery wires and held up to the desk lamp to get some idea of the PCB component and track layout. Interesting that the five LED's are in parallel with the IC switching the negative through the usual current limiting resistor. Cut the track on the LED side of that resistor and connected a length of six string LED's

Lights off..

Turn on lights with remote control.

The question now is how much current can I pull from that IC which has no identification on the package. Enough for now I'll take some more measurements tomorrow and see how it pans out. I need to get that lab power supply.

Tyrrells Sweet Chilli & Red Pepper Chips 165g

Since the supermarkets dropped this flavor a couple of years ago been searching far & wide for another supply source - with no luck.

Was in Wheelers Hill Woolworths when a lady staff person waltzed up to me and said...I saw what your looking for in the Reject Shop - really. Most stores had sold out but found some at Rowville so grabbed what they had left - 12 bags.

Well...looks like I won't have to stock up to that extent here they are again - all good.

Post parcel tray sign - 2

From the first session created the sign in MS Word and put it in a clear plastic sleeve. Here we finish the job.

Stapled the top and bottom overlap to the back and found some black shelving edge trim to enclose the whole thing. Used a hacksaw and mitre box to cut the 45's.

Somewhere over the rainbow

Just caught another one.

Sanyo projector system - part 3

Fixing 90 x 35mm pine timber to the front of the box.

Copyright symbol stamp

I posted if anyone knew where I could get one of these and there was no response.

Not to worry cos in the meantime I sent off a e-mail request to Blackburn Rubber Stamps for a quote yesterday and just got a reply.

Happy with that so I'll send back a confirm to go ahead with the job.

MSCD Reception Sign - Part 4

Finally we can start laying out the 5V LED strip light.

That looks bloody nice if I do say so myself.

Post parcel tray sign - 1

For a while there we had a couple of great posties, a guy on a push bike and a gal on the usual motorcycle. If I was out there they would often stop and chat and...knew about my dishwashing parcel tray.

Looks like they've gone and the new crew are all over the place, mail will be delivered and often they'll return zig zagging down the street posting again, most likely due to sloppy mail sorting.

Al's Workshop update

With regard to my silhouette night lights I found something on eBay that I will offer as a optional lighting extra. LED fairy lights with remote control, battery or USB operation.

DJ 58" TV visual display - part 5b video

DJ 58" TV visual display - part 5

The front of each side will have LED strip lighting so in this session we are setting up to route those channels.

The LED strip is 8mm wide so we'll use a 12mm router bit.

She's moving so all OK :-)

Garden World for lunch - 2

Checking on Holly back home after she was sick this morning.

Android TV and Kodi - Foxtel Go

Just installed the Foxtel Go addon on the balcony Kodi box - works well. This relates to my Sanyo projector system project cos I'm thinking of buying another dedicated Android TV box for that projector loaded with everything and now including Foxtel Go.
Ironically it's quite likely that today I'll be cancelling Foxtel from Telstra...more on that later.

Holly update

After a quiet day yesterday cos she was sick in the morning when she woke up happy to report back to normal - all good. This morning she woke me with paw tugging on my arm and happy face.

Holly says... I'm back!

Shetland night light - happy customer.

Always nice when customers send me photos of where they have setup their night lights.

"I'm so happy with my Sheltie Silhouette Illuminating Picture Light
Alan also does Rough Collies & Smooth Collies different styles.
Thank you Alan Mackenzie."

Makes it all worthwhile.

My first faulty night light return

Fortunately it's a family member. my older daughter.

This was my very first freestanding night light with the silhouette mounted on a backboard fixed to a stand. The problem is she no light up any more.

Shetland Sheepdog night light - 1

Starting another job for a new customer. This is one of my new models where, besides the usual silhouette lighting the moon or other featured background object is also illuminated.

Doing a mock-up after waiting for the matt black paint to dry for a while. Next session we'll start the lighting.

DJ TV Display - Part 4

Session summary - spent a few hours this morning and expended a fair bit of energy - then gave up

Each side will have four large 125mm holes down the middle. This gives the unit that funky DJ look, reduces weight (each quite heavy) and provides convenient hand holes.

Here we are setting up the drill guide to drill pilot holes with the bit depth set for two and a half panels.

DJ TV Display - Part 3

Completed the second side, that is the right side in 1/3 the time it took to do the first side - the left side.

Ready for the next stage of the build each side will have four large holes.

DJ TV Display - Part 2

After a good start with Philip Tyme on Saturday I am back on this job cos for the last two days got dragged away doing other stuff.

Doing some planning before we start. This Torx wood screw is just the right length and I have a dog food tin full of them.

DJ TV Display - Part 1

Doing a job for Philip Tyme to make a integrated display TV unit for DJ gigs.

For the Bunnings plywood we both had to ring around, see the picture further down the page.

Nothing out his way and in my side the only one was Notting Hill so off yesterday morning in the Camry to buy 3 x 1200 x 600 x 18mm @ $35 per sheet. Loaded nicely across the back seat. We are using this picture that Philip found on the net.

MSCD Reception Sign - Part 3

While the morning sun is about masked off the internal frame tray and spray painted matt white.

As usual used the spray paint carousel. Thisis early afternoon and that won't take long to dry so I'll soon be able to continue the job.

MSCD Reception Sign - Part 2

With some concepts in mind started making the internal frame.

Doing a fitting before glue-up. The backboard here is the actual picture frame back flipped over. When dry it's removed along the 'masking' sticky tape so the frames don't stick together cos of excess glue, then turned over ready for the next stage.
