During the recent storms and power outages the Cyberpower Value600ei UPS failed to keep the Lenovo AIO desktop running so disconnected the black brick and took it to the workshop for repair at a later date.

Workshop tower PC

Not spending much time in the workshop lately - TOO COLD - but I wanted to backup CCTV DVR recordings to USB stick. Did that and went to check the contents on the workshop PC.

Turned it on - loud rattling noise - turn off!

Microwave rescue - Part 2

Started working on putting together a turntable.

Found a plate that does fit in there but I suspect it needs to be bit smaller, I'll keep looking.

Bandsaw 8 repairs

Wanted to use the 8" band saw to cut some MDF strips for the Batman (LE) job and came across a couple of problems.

The Fence

The fence clamp will not slide onto the table and I figure everything has swelled due to the weather.

Today's limited activities

For the last two weeks due to the very cold weather not been able to potter around outside or even spend time in the workshop!

Having said that did manage to spend some time this afternoon in the workshop - with Speckles - picking up where I left off a couple of years ago with Al's Mini Batman picture light (see related posts).

Anyway... after four-o-clock now and I pack up Speckles is having some more of her corn & rice platter - before we both go inside.

Workshop bench storage - part 2

From the last session with the right support screwed down we can now focus on the left shelf support.

This is where we finished session 1.
We need to carefully measure and mark the location of that left end support.

Workshop bench storage - part 1

Replacing the electronics/electrical workbench top storage shelf which was simply a length of fence paling timber.

Turning fence palings into dressed timber–part 1

Turning fence palings into dressed timber with the ALDI WorkZone Planer Thicknesser.

Dressed pine timber is expensive - very expensive. Wherever possible I use cheap fence palings for my projects and… if needed I dress my own timber.

The machine has two configurations - planer and thicknesser. We are setup for the latter here to smooth the paling faces.

Black & Decker Alligator Lopper–part 1

This beast that belongs to a family friend has - lost it's bite.

This looks tricky - lots of screws and even springs (OMG) with a layered build.

V380 camera problem

Went to move it from the bird bath over to the cottage garden to monitor Speckles and when I plugged the micro USB cable into the camera connector it broke away and is now rattling around inside the camera housing – bugger.

Gave myself no chance of repairing this one!

Removed the base and the USB PCB socket dropped out onto the work bench. - the tiny mounting legs have broken off. No photo of the actual socket as it's too small (bloody tiny) for the phone camera to focus.

Another new toy for kitties.
