Mower throttle control - part 1

Finished off another productive gardening day (nice day!) with trimming and mowing the backyard.

Nearly finished and then we had a mishap! mower throttle got caught up in a Money Plant branch - and snapped off (bugger)

The Victa Statesman mulching mower has served me well over the last 13 years with all the servicing done - by me. Interesting... I never noticed that the throttle has Rabbit and Tortoise symbols - LOL

Mower repairs

Victa Briggs & Stratton mulching mower will not start (bugger)

Since the last time I serviced the mower a few years ago it's been running well and now suddenly with no warnings - will not start? There are a couple of things creeping in lately, harder to prime and the recoil starter is dodgy - slack cord.

Removed the cover - the end of the throttle cable needs to be unhooked from the throttle arm.

Mower repairs–part 6

After shopping went down to the mower shop and got a ‘odd’ wheel for $20 - yay.

Mower repairs–part 5

With the main repairs done gave the mower a good test run yesterday afternoon.
Nature strip, front yard, back yard - everything in sight that was green.
Importantly hot starts are good.

This morning we are having a look at the damaged wheel.

VICTA 4 Stroke 19" STATESMAN 550 mulching mower – Start-up video clip.

The repairs went well with a satisfying DIY outcome and the parts cost $29 - happy with that.

Purchased in 2008 for $399 and has the larger Briggs & Stratton 5.5HP 4 Stroke Engine. Still a couple of things on the list, damaged wheel and that dodgy recoil starter.

Mower repairs–part 3

Have to clean all that out plus wash parts with petrol which means I have to go get more stuff so wait till later when the rain eases off - down tools again.

As posted the old bulb is really soft when compared to the new one.

Mower repairs–part 2

Went down to the mower place to get the parts and when I got back, we had to quickly get the chooks sorted out before the rain came down - what a change. Went out to continue mower repairs but gave up for now with everything pulled back into the carport - away from the rain.

This parts cost $29 bucks - Crikey
