The pond pump not working - no waterfall?

No wonder!
I know I keep harping on it... been dealing all year with the left eyeball plus a detour for a kidney stone procedure has resulted in so many things need attention!

Garden pond pump is kaput!

Lasted six years so no complaints but...not happy about the replacement cost!

Price of the AQUAPRO AP1050 Waterfeature Pond Pump has increased 25% now $54.45

Remove some stuff from the left back corner so I can pull through the power cable.

Garden pond–continued

Making progress pressure cleaned the larger rocks and arranged them back under the waterfall. Cleaned the main pump sponge filter as well as the fountain pump - add water.

Garden pond update-

Did some more rebuilding on the pond today under the cover of a tarp to keep the sun off my back - almost done On the way home from the horse paddocks popped into Bunnings and bought another water plant and a pump prefilter (see next post).

Above: Hot day so erected a temporary tarp to keep the sun off my back.

Garden pond update-

To avoid frequent cleaning of the (small) internal filter of Aquapro AP-1050 pond pump I  purchased the AQUAPRO 200 x 100 x 100mm Small Prefilter Sponge for $7.98 - from Bunnings . Took me a few minutes to work out how to fit the pre filter sponge onto the pump. Once fitted you end up with some left over pump parts!

The filter sponge has a plastic tube running down its centre. This tube is threaded at one end which screws into the pump inlet. No more fiddling with the pump, cleaning now is simply a matter of sliding the sponge off its tube and rinsing under tap water

Garden pond update

Dropped into Bunnings on the way home from the horses and got a Clam Shell Sandpit which looks the same size/shape/profile as the old one which will now act as a base for the new one.

Garden pond update

The new clamshell fits like a glove into the old leaky one so started the rebuild process, first up is the waterfall.

Garden pond - we have a leak !!!

As posted earlier this year (Jan/Feb) decided to create a garden pond from a clamshell sandpit that was lying around in the backyard. Needs topping up now and then due to evaporation etc. but over the last few weeks top up's have been to frequent - hmm.

Topped up yesterday and this morning water level is noticeably down, checked around the pond and yep ground is damp - we have a leak and it's getting worse - bugger.

Hope I can get another clamshell that will fit into the one in there.

Pond maintenance - it needs it.

The pond pumps (waterfall, fountain and bamboo water spout) are cycled through most of the day (every day x 365) off a timer which is connected to a RCD (AKA GFC).

Every two weeks I treat the pond with Aquapro/Aquatec Bionatural Feature Clean Treatment

which keeps everything looking pretty good all year round.

However over winter what was one a thriving water lettuce died off and seemed to contaminate everything so time for some TLC.

Garden pond

Had one of those kids clam shell sandpit/pool play things lying around so decided to do something with it – a pond.
