14” Bandsaw - Vertical post support

With the base box motor and lower wheel ready we can start to plan the vertical post that will support the upper wheel mount assembly on a horizontal arm support.

Using a length of 90 x 70 pine that sill be beefed up with more timber and bracing later on.

Bought a pile of MDF shelving real cheap from Masters when they were closing down. Cut one to the correct height and clamped it to the vertical post to keep things square. It will remain there through the build and later on have it’s ‘throat’ cut out to provide a clear space for the table through to the upper blade guides – specified as a 14” with riser saw.

Drilling pilot holes to screw on the vertical post.

Using fairly large hex drive bugle head wood screws.

Later on I’ll put in some coach bolts as well

I mainly use the Ozito impact driver or wrench for heave duty stuff, like making workbenches and outdoor projects. It’s powerful, aggressive and noisy.

That pair of earmuffs is from our 20 years of tending to horses (last 11 years 24x7x365), many of which were very cold and miserable.

Back soon...
