Bandsaw 43 – Guide arm skewed

In this post I am rectifying something that is the result of my previous effort to rectify something that was overlooked originally when I was building the saw last year that should not have slipped past me but it did so I failed to rectify the original stuff-up - confused now !
With regard to the last fix I noticed the the blade guide arm was skewed to the right with respect to the main frame and in fixing that I noticed today while cleaning the saw that the same arm was now not at right angles to the table but angled back a bit - hmm.

The blade guide arm which slides up and down for cutting height mates with that length of timber with the four screws. All of that had to come off to fix the skew issue and and when I fitted that bit of timber back I neglected to drive the screws back into the original holes. I lined up the top screw OK but failed to notice the timber was not parallel to the tension block (to the right a bit at the bottom) so the bottom screw ended up to the right of the original hole.

Telstra BigPond cable usage

Half way through current cycle and we've used 56GB of 500GB - LOL. Hey that's a fair amount for a retired couple but not from computer usage, mainly from the T-box with Foxtel and Presto.

Unpacking the new TV

Lugged the beast up the stairs by myself into one of the end bedrooms to unpack and setup. DO NOT do as I do, this is a two person job! However...if you've been doing TV stuff from the sixties then you can exempt yourself - like I have.

Unpacking the new TV

Initial setup and run auto tune. The remote control looks and feels pretty el cheapo, not as good as the Soniq’s. Channel change is quick. It amazes me in this digital era of HD, FHD and now UHD how many stations still transmit in SD/576i. Flicking through found 7MATE was transmitting in 1080i and yeah picture looks good.

New vacuum turbo brush

Every couple of years we get a new turbo brush for the Nilfisk Bravo vacuum. This time Godfreys – Knox only had the display one so got it for $69.95. On a monthly basis I pull it completely apart and clean/service but even with all that TLC the plastic end bearings inevitably wear/overheat/distort. I'm working on a fix for this, intending to replace the eight skate board blade guide bearings on my homemade band saw with UHMW plastic from Carbatec and I'll use the leftover to make end bearings for the turbo brush.

Researching new TV's

Hard to find a 'normal' TV in the 55" - 58" range, SMART TV's are all the rage now and they are basically giant tablets - I want to watch TV on a TV. Was looking at the Soniq S55V14B 55" Full HD Smart LED-LCD TV (giant tablet) but on startup go's to a Cinevision Home screen full of adverts. Not Googleapproved not Playstored - pass. Moved on to the Hisense TV's but after browsing their Facebook page full of pissed off people - another pass. So...we are now looking at TCL. Harvey Norman has the TCL 55" Full HD LED LCD Slim TV L55B3800F for $695. They come with a 3 year in-home warranty - not bad.

And...it's a dumb TV !!!

Ford Fiesta FOB not working

Older kid over this evening for tea and brought a car problem with her, the key fob suddenly stopped working? It's a 2010 Ford Fiesta. Found a YouTube video on how to change the CR2032 battery and followed the instructions below to re-program the key.

To program my key all I needed to do was put the key in the ignition, turn it to "run" and then back to "off" 4 times within 6 seconds. The car will make a beep letting me know it's in program mode. You press any button on the key fob and it will beep again to let you know the remote is programmed. After that, put the ignition in the "run" position again to turn off programming mode and you're good. Worked perfect

ET will not be happy!

It's like 1:20am Thursday morning and only a couple of hours ago ET cleaned Chester’s hutch, all nice and clean tidy. Covered up like that he looks like a homeless bunny LOL.

New phone system

We want to replace our aging Telstra 8200 five handset system so time for some research - I love researching stuff. Was interested in the Telstra Call Guardian 301 with extra handsets but they are not available WTF. Finally ended up at Harvey Norman Knox and unlike all the others that seemed to find even simple questions to difficult or not worth the time the guy at HNK was really good.

Panasonic phone system - update

Batteries are charged enough to setup the system - excitement. Went through the initial setup on Handset 1 which propagated to the other handsets and the base station. Next execute [MENU]#6241 to establish a Bluetooth connection between my Samsung Galaxy and Handset 1. Now the interesting bit, execute [MENU]#618 to copy Contacts from the paired Samsung to the shared phonebook, choice of Auto or Manual, I went Auto and away she went – done.

Enough for tonight and lots more to explore tomorrow including setting up the key finder.

New phone system–unpacking

Unpacking the box, first thing is to install the batteries and put everything on charge.

More furniture to store

More furniture has arrived at Meadowbrook Mansion - for storage !
Have to find room for a 3 seater sofa but the downstairs rumpus room is almost full - what to do ?

Decided to dismantle the double bed in the 3rd bedroom and store that in the rumpus room to make room which works out OK as ET is turning this bedroom into a library/art room.

Two cats now.

Samsung Phone - low memory !!!

I have a hand-me-down from the older kid, a Samsung Galaxy GT-N7000 which is a few years old now but still a very nice capable phone adequate for my needs.

However...and much to my surprise, the thing is running out of memory ??? Now with this type of Android device the whole memory thing can be very confusing, when it's connected to the Win7 box Kies reports Internal Memory 3.15/10.97GB and External Memory 1.09/3.68GB which is the 4GB SD card.

Microsoft One Note

Samsung Galaxy - after fixing my memory issues late last night was able to install  One Note this morning...more to come

All I'm doing is taking the rubbish out.

RE: My phone is running out of memory !!!

Further to this with the phone lying idle on the desk battery consumption has markedly improved ???

Fired up the old Vulcan space heater in the lounge to keep the animals happy. Milo was there as well but nicked off when I turned on the main lights - scary cat.
