14” Bandsaw – started blade guide arm

Some workshop sessions are more rewarding than others, this is one of them.

With the horizontal support arm and the upper wheel mount assembly all setup and test run with the blade we can start thinking about the blade guide arm. Measured and cut off flush the end of the support arm.

The blade guide arm will sit at the end and look something like this. Good to see that the mock-up arm and blade have aligned nicely – phew.

The arm needs to be contained but still be able to slide up and down for height adjustment – and lockable. I’m checking out this idea, the arm is held between two pieces of MDF and the front one has a spacer strip.

This is like a sacrificial spacer that I can sand down to obtain a precise sliding friction fit, if I stuff up it’s easy to do another one. No need to fiddle with the other bits.

Back soon...
