Garden updates - Bottom garden Part 3

Last year I installed a water tap on the back fence to reduce watering effort and save dragging out the 50M garden hose for casual watering.

Both garden hose and poly pipe feed the sprinkler systems.

Garden updates - Poly repair Part 1

Oops...sound of rushing water near the garden shed after connecting the poly line that feeds the cottage garden and turning on the local tap at the back of the house.

This is where she sprung a leak and it's simply due to me doing a workaround which has come back to bite.

The repair is already done, this is a 'after' photo as there was too much water to take a 'before' photo.

Front porch sensor light

Front porch sensor light needs replacing.

With regard to domestic lighting this is one of my all time favourites. Been using them for decades and lost count how many I installed for people.

They are DIY no sparky required.

The light must be 15 years old and still works OK but is flickering so time for a new one.

I should be able to repair it to use elseway - see last photo.

Nature strip shrub edging

Finished putting the edging around the replacement nature strip shrub to contain the mulch.

Now I can trim and mow without making a mess. I'll send this photo off to Kay who manages the tree planting program in Monash.

Bunnings shopping

Waiting for ET in the garden section of Bunnings and I already
have my stuff which is for the replacement nature strip shrub planted three months ago. This is a 'fix up' and I'll be sending photos to Kay who is in charge of the tree planting program at Monash.

This to go around the replacement shrub. Why am i doing this?

Monday shopping trip

Doing our usual Monday trip to Wheelers Hill which BTW is the only place ET will get her Tattslotto from. She must be onto something cos we often have smaller winnings that would have covered a fair chunk of the outlay. Today the trolley is full of stuff - for a reason.

Why do we have so much this Monday?

LW-K3010D power supply - further testing.

As this point I'm not interested in load testing but rather will this power supply be suitable for the type of work I want to do which is low voltage low current - working with LED lighting. Typically 3V, 4.5, 5V and some 12V stuff. So the question is current resolution, how low will it resolve down to?

On the left and just unpacked is a new set of Fairy lights powered by 2 x AA battery box.I tapped into the + supply wire to connect the multimeter in series to measure current with it set on 0.25A or 250mA. The current drawn is just below 100mA.

eBay and dodgy traders or suppliers - UPDATE !!!

As posted after complaining to eBay I got a full PayPal refund within two hours and a message from the trader that there was no need to return the faulty power supply.
Happy to report and I think it's a fair and just outcome after all the hassle that I have been able to repair the faulty power supply that arrived DOA.

Just finished replacing the faulty bits with new components I got from Jaycar this morning.- about $10 bucks. It's working...yay.

Testing with a 12V LED stick that is pulling 390mA. Have to quit now cos there are other jobs on the list, back later to have another play.

Stay tuned ..

ALDI Gardenline veggie bed - adding a second one for ET

Another bloody windy day and yeah...I don't like windy days. Today however coming in from the East so not to bad in the backyard along with some sunshine so decided to setup the second veggie box.

These days it's important to plan everything so as not to stress the body so I've cleared the old *BBQ table to assemble the box.

Telstra Smart Modem Gen 2 - dodgy update

We have the Gen 2 version that GSM internet AND voice backup and ET complained this afternoon that she tried to make some calls - and nothing ??? OK...ring your mobile - nothing. Ring my mobile - nothing. Hmm...we have a problem so went to log into the modem and my usual admin password is rejected...huh.

Tried the default Telstra password and that worked - something not right here ??? Clicked the button to restart the modem and again had to use the default password to login and voice line still not working. OK go downstairs to my study and pull the DC power plug, wait for a bit and power up.

Voice line now working OK but still have to login using default password so went to change that to my usual admin one which was rejected saying has to (now) be 12 characters long, I think previously 10. So likely a overnight auto update that's stuffed a few things and also reset whatever the current password was back to default - not good.

eBay and dodgy traders or suppliers.

Purchased this 30V/10A bench power supply AKA lab power supply for Al's Workshop R&D stuff. Unit arrived DOA so asked for replacement or refund.

After days of getting the runaround lodged a complaint with eBay and within couple of hours got a full PayPal refund.

Deer night light - Part 2

After painting the internal spacer frame matt white, plus some other prep work, we can now move onto the LED strip lighting.

Measured, cut and ran the LED strip around the inside of the spacer frame.

Pixie strutting the catwalk - again

Deer night light - Part 1

New customer has placed a order but I am banned (lol) from posting anything about the job, it's a gift for a special person. I should be OK to post about her bonus night light.

Bonus gifts are usually smaller around 6 x 4 but in this case I'll make it A4 size.
Customer made the above choice so already printed that on A4 glossyphoto paper.
