Batman lights - first lot (part 6)

Still waiting for the LED strip lights to arrive in the meantime prepping everything up to that lighting stage. Also doing some thinking..due to the unique shape and compact layout these lights require more effort and dexterity to build. The main issue is that the LED strip lights on edge require additional support. Hot glue doesn't work and is risky so I end up cutting and shaping intricate pieces of MDF to support the LED strip which are the hot glued down. Then I cut and bend narrow crown staples into a U shape to hole the LED strip...phew.

Al's Workshop - Batman lights

I don't know if this is virus related cos Sunday night I had a sudden influx of enquiries for my Batman light, like 20 of them one after the other including country folk asking about postage and willing to pay for that - Crikey.

At this stage (still going through them) looks like I have orders for ten of them - again Crikey. This morning worked my way through the list and confirmed the first four orders so making a start on them. Also ordered 4 x RGB LED strip with RCU kits. Tonight I'll have to do some 'overtime' and continue down the list following up with the other people.

Starting with the first four confirmed orders.

Disc sander for wood lathe - part 5B

Before continuing with the sliding sled box I noticed that the MDF sanding disc had wheel to much wheel wobble so corrected that while it's in my mind.

One side of the 30cm disc was not completely flush with the backing plate. This what happens when you didn't use clamps while putting in the screws.

After the COVID pensioner hour shopping trip now waiting at Caribbean market for 8.30am open to public.

COVID–Brandon Park chemist (update)

After waiting over one hour collected, paid and on the escalator ET checked (good thing) the bag and wrong tablets !!!

20200315_153146

Went back to fix that and in the end walked out with only ONE tablet packet. We know where it's all going - bloody China. That mob of bloody Chinese are stripping all the supermarket and chemist shelves to ship back to China!

COVID–Brandon Park chemist

Off again this time with ET back to Brandon Park where I was this morning.

Planer thicknesser - planer fence (part 5)

Now for the final part of this build, screw on the actual front timber piece for this sliding fence.

To reiterate the whole purpose of this sliding fence is to even blade wear (when edge planning) across the full width of the table - as shown here. Measured, cut and screwed on the last piece of timber - the actual fence.

Study desktop PC–Windows 10/64 upgrade.

Before leaving for the vet with Holly started a backup to the new Seagate 4TB drive – 63GB.

Start making the clamp knobs.

ALERT - ALDI Workzone 4Ah batteries.

Bought one reduced from $40 to $30 a week ago for the Workzone cordless mitre saw (which needs 4ah not 2ah) so I don't have to keep nicking one of the 4ah batteries from the two cordless drills. Only went to use the mitre saw two days ago and the fully charged battery cuts out !!! Checked the saw with both the other batteries - working fine. Gave the new battery another check and saw starts and then stops. OK…exchanged that for another one yesterday and the same thing - cuts out. Back to get a refund for that battery.

89152414_10222464185936132_4492182805433810944_n

I suspect a batch problem so returned for refund and will wait for next time around.

Comes with undocumented feature - interstellar radio reception!!!

Pretty sure transmissions are from the Triangulum Galaxy.

The audio on both cameras has so much interference it’s not possible to decipher the recorded audio.  Packed them up and returned for refund.

Planer Thicknesser fence - Part 2

Continuing on from the first session here we are making the moveable part of the sliding fence.

Cutting slots in the two side panels.

NextPVR IPTV

Setup to record a few shows tonight.

Planer Thicknesser fence - Part 1

The unit works really well. Here for the first time I’ve just run some timber through the thicknesser and now cleaning up the edges.

20200304_132309
One thing I’m already thinking about is uneven blade wear. The fence side of the blades is going to get a lot of use which is likely to show up when using the thicknesser. If that fence could be moved across the table that would even out blade wear.

Looking for the Wi-Fi Chicken Doors?

Stay tuned... over the next few days I will be catch-up posting the Wi-Fi chicken Doors. Oh... and my Wi-Fi Bird Feeder. I'll be back...
