Early start this morning (for us retirees) to get to ALDI before opening time so we don’t miss out on the sewing machine and table. We were 2nd in line with a nice lady in front of us, she and the guy behind us were all after the same stuff. ET went for the machine and I the table which is 42.5kg, gave the lady a hand with hers and in doing so lost ground as others crowded in behind me but pushed back in and grabbed one assisted by the fact they could not lift the boxes. Later gave the lady in front of us a hand to load her car.
Also purchased the the sewing table - it’s HEAVY
and the LED magnifying lamp.

Hi, how would you rate the sewing machine? My mother in law is thinking of buying one but she's had some bad luck with cheap sewing machines. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHi there,
ReplyDeleteI can't give you much feedback because we haven't used it all that much, my wife has done some general sewing and I (LOL) made some covers for computer equipment and musical instruments - so far no problems. Note that the Singer 1412 is coming up again at ALDI next week.
So you had no problems? Mine seems to have a very loose bobbin thread and all the number switching for tension and stitch length is not making a difference :(
ReplyDeleteOurs is still working OK, are you going to exchange for another one or get a refund?
ReplyDeleteI have just purchased this machine for $99 at Aldi. How is yours going? I could not find any specific demo on you tube. 6.01.2015 Margaret
ReplyDeleteThe 1412 is similar to the 1408 and 1409 so we typically used these videos...

...in particular for bobbin setup and threading the beast. You can search for more 1408/1409 videos, so far the machine has been trouble free. Cheers
Hi I have one of these machines as well and I just want to throw it against the wall! Doesn't matter what I do the thread breaks, the bobbin comes lose. It's not a good machine. I would never buy another one.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your troubles, we have not have any issues but mind you the machine has not had a lot of use. You could exercise your consumer rights that the product is not fit for the purpose and demand a refund - cheers.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your honesty.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI bought the sewing machine from Aldi few months back. I used it couple of times, it was working good. But today suddenly it's not working. When I press with my leg the machine is making sound but nothing is happening. The machine is not moving. Every thing else seems to be ok. Could u plz give me any idea why this is happening?
Thanks
Turn the hand wheel (the big knob on the right) as you press down on the foot pedal - any better?
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI just discovered that my bobbin thread was not in place. Anyways thanks a lot.
I bought this machine few months back from Aldi.i just started to use today but the hand wheel is stucked.i feel so bad.why this problem?
ReplyDeleteHi Alan, I don't suppose you got a disc with your Promise 1412 did you? I got one with mine but cant for the life of me find it... if so I don't suppose i could trouble you to upload the contents somewhere? I know this is a forward request but you seem to like helping and i cant find it anywhere! Thanks, Erica
ReplyDeleteHi Alan, I'm highly considering purchasing the Aldi sewing table in their sale tomorrow, but I'd love to hear some feedback on if you were happy with it??
ReplyDeleteKind Regards,
Jess 😊
Hi there,
ReplyDeleteThey are different brands, the previous one which we have is a Singer and for our needs has worked well. This time around it’s a Janome so we can’t really compare the two.
For the money you can’t go wrong, make sure you find the time to give it plenty of use in the first few weeks so if not happy pack it up and return.
Cheers
Thanks so much for your prompt response Alan!
ReplyDeleteI may've posted in the wrong section, but I saw you purchased the sewing table also & that was actually what I was after some feedback for (not the machine). 😁
If you have time, and wouldn't mind giving me your feedback on the table, I'd really appreciate it. 😊
Thanks again,
Jess
My mistake...we are happy with the table.
ReplyDeleteGreat, thanks for your time! 😊
ReplyDeleteSo nice to hear all this generous feedback Alan u r a thorough gentleman.
ReplyDeleteHello, can anybody help me please I have miss placed my instructions for my 1412 in our move is there a video or manual? I have googled and googled can can not find it.
ReplyDeleteI sent you the manual which you can also download from this link:

When I first used the machine it was great, but now with sewing a lot it keeps jamming, or the cotton won't stay in the threaded and a few other problems I have had. Alright for a learner but I don't like it for ecsess sewing.
