Cut some scrap timber to generate sawdust then opened the cover – interesting.
Almost all the dust has collected in that left corner of the open cover. That makes sense as the wheel turns clockwise blowing everything into that corner. That’s good !, we can mount the dust port low down in the corner.
Went through some of my irrigation and plumbing stuff and found a adaptor, the size of the smaller end looks pretty close to hose size of the little Shop-Vac vacuum. Actually it’s a push-on fit !!!
As always bored a test hole in a bit of scrap.
Done on the drill press it was a nice squeeze fit but…drilling the hole ‘freehand’ into the side of the cover resulted in a slightly oversize hole..
Never mind, wound on some duct tape to make it secure.
That's good.
I’ve been using the little Shop-Vac on the 12” mitre saw with a DIY hose with plumbing fitting to mate to the dust port on the saw.Pulled all that off and went looking for the original hose and got the thing hooked up to the saw.

Cut some more wood to make some more sawdust, the same amount as before for comparison.
Turned off the saw and opened the cover and yes…that’s a good result.
