Lenovo AIO desktop noisy fan

For some months now our Lenovo Ideacentre AIO 510 (23) i7/16GB desktop has been annoying me with a noisy fan.

Even when idle the fan revs will increase and decrease in a cyclic manner.

Removed the back and gave it a clean out; not much in the way of dust clogging things so this will not fix the noisy fan problem. I suspect it’s software…not hardware.

After fooling around trying different things I came up with this fix. Let’s hope it stays like that.

In Control Panel go into System and then Power & Sleep. Click on Additional power settings.

Click on Power saving and then Change plan settings.

Note: I have always use the recommended Balanced setting so initially went in there to try and fix the noisy fan thing…nothing worked.

Click on Change advanced power settings.

Scroll down and click on Processor power management.

Set System cooling policy to Passive

Set Maximum processor state to 50 percent.

Click OK and back out…done!

Since doing this the Lenovo is super quiet!

Note: AFIK reducing to 50 percent does not effect preformance.
