Came up with the idea to increase the lighting by making an IR LED spotlight that will sit on top of the camera ice cream container weather housing.
Went through my CCTV stuff and found a few of these lenses with IR lighting.
CCTV camera lens with IR LED’s – perfect. xxx
The 12V power cable setup is very convenient with in/out DC connectors to allow the CCTV camera and IR lights to be connected to the same 12V power cable.
The actual lens assembly is not needed so let’s remove that.
That’s the actual lens sitting on top of the main unit.
Now we need to make a mount for the IR light.
Found a bit of scrap plywood.
Measure and mark the mounting panel.
Over to the homemade 8” band saw.
This band saw is powered with a washing machine motor.

Ready to start cutting.
Thinking…what’s next?
Using a pine block for the base.
I need to make a fat tapered washer with a hole drilled in the centre so I can secure to the back with a wood screw.
Sanding a taper on the 'fat washer'
That's a nice fit so now mark the centre on the stand.
With that done let's mount it on the base.
Came up with this idea to use a old rusty hinge which will aloow for some tild adjustment without the thing falling back.
So far so good now we need a weather cover.
Found some plastic sheet from packaging stuff.
Next time I setup to view possum activity there will be plenty of IR illumination.
Hasta la vista.
