Wood lathe disc sander – part 2

Kicking off this project with making the 30cm MDF sanding disc. I have ordered a 30cm Velcro pad and already have a pack of 30cm sanding discs.

Bought two sheets of MDF this afternoon from Bunnings.
Measuring up using a sander pad to cut off for the 30cm disc blank.


That's done.


Scribing the circle.


Cutting out on the home made 14" band saw.


That's done.
This is the face plate off the lathe that already has a smaller timber disc so I'll leave as is and screw the larger disc onto that.


Going through my screw stock to find one the right length.


With that done let's see how it looks on the lathe.

That's a good start, next step is to setup for turning the disc with a chisel and then check for wobble.
