Disc sander for wood lathe - part 6

Before mounting the table we need to route a channel for the mitre gauge. I've decided to go with the vintage Sher mitre gauge - ALL METAL

On the left is where we downed tools last session
I’m going to use this vintage Sher mitre gauge (it’s all metal!). The Skill company later became Skill Sher.

The vintage mitre gauge is of course Imperial, the 1/2" width converts to 12.7 mm. Measured here at 12.64 mm.

The 12mm router bit means we will need to reset the fence - always a tricky thing.

Due to the size of the sander table we need to remove the standard fence.

Looking at the back of the router table you can see we are near maximum depth capacity.

There's enough room for a pine strip fence, clamped at either end. OK...ready to route.

Did the first pass then reset the fence for that 0.5mm and ran it through again.

Gods are with us today - perfect fit.

Now cut the pine to length.

And screw it onto the mitre gauge - all done.

Next session we can screw down the table and then wait for the Velcro pad to arrive - Friday or Monday.
