Workshop ceiling fan - Part 2

Starting the fan install after posting that unboxing video clip.

Collecting what I need, this little roll of three core cable will do nicely between fan and controller. I got this when Masters was closing down, sitting all by itself on a barren shelf with a price tag of 50 cents. I knew it would come in handy one day.
The instructions say to first fix the base mounting plate to the ceiling. There is a hook on the base plate to which you can hang the fan which frees up both hands to do the wiring - nice touch.

However...there is no normal ceiling here, just a Colorbond gable roof with steel purlins so I'm taking a different path.

My 'ceiling' is a scrap bit of laminate flooring to which the mounting plate will be secured with screws and Teflon nuts plus spring washers.

Here I'm pre-drilling the holes before I fix the 'ceiling' base to the fan base bracket.

With the mounting plate bolted to the timber ceiling plate we are ready to start the wiring.

Now we can assemble the top canopy to the mounting plate.

With that done we can assemble the fan blades.

Each blade is attached to the metal fan bracket with 3 screws.

Doing the other three blades.

Blades are screwed to the motor housing with a fibre washer between the two.

At this point we are ready to go up the step ladder but enough for now...back soon.
