When making bandsaw wheels there are three basic things to keep in mind; wobble, run-out and lastly wheel balancing.
Continuing on from the last session I bored four holes (each side of the flange) to allow for quick clamps to be passed through to clamp the flanges to the wheel - for wobble alignment.
Now we can slowly rotate the wheel and with the aid of the 'wobble pointer' gently tap on the bench side of the wheel - while tightening the clamps - to minimize wobble. While doing this one should also initially check for and reduce run-out.
Now we can screw the block down. Remove one clamp and carefully drive in a screw, then do the diagonally opposite one. Stop…and check wheel wobble again, then do the remaining two screws. Turned the wheel around mounted the second flange block using the same procedure.
Later on I will come back and finally glue/screw the blocks on and finally true and balance the wheels.
The blocks are skewed so the screws on one side don't run into the screws on the other side.
Back soon...
