Made a base for the saw and redesigned the motor mount assembly which can now bee easily adjusted for pulley alignment and belt tension adjustment.
The motor assembly can slide left or right for belt tension and move front to back for pulley alignment.
Above left: That MDF strip on the left has a 45° angle mitre that mates with the front edge of the motor mount, another strip at the back keeps it all together so the motor can only slide left or right - for belt tension. The MDF strip has slotted holes to allow the motor pulley to be lined up with the Vee pulley on the back of the lower wheel.
Above lower corner: Is the belt tension setup - a bit like vice jaws. The top block is screwed to the right edge of the motor mount with a recessed nut to secure the threaded rod. The fixed block has a slotted hole to accommodate motor front to back movement. Do pulley alignment first then adjust belt tension, the nut will be replaced with a star knob.
Finally we have reduced the footprint.
