Rock wall garden edging - Part 1

 Removing excess soil

It's surprising how much soil washes in from the top garden level through the rock wall to overfill the narrow garden bed. So much that the metal garden edging is bulging out in places and looks unsightly.

I actually started this job a couple of day go by digging or rather scooping out soil along the back of the edging.

Today along the front we a raking back the top layer of soil free pebbles and scooping the rest into containers.

Nearing the corner brick pier where it turns left.

When back filling I will only need some of the cleaner soil that was scooped out from the narrow garden bed.

This one needs processing to recover the pebbles - lol

More soil...

Went looking for more containers but I don't think I will need them. Will be handy for washing the grubby pebbles.

After some thought it's inevitable that more soil will wash in so I'm going to put fence palings in front of the metal edging to stop the bulging.

Something like this and I'll give the boards two coats of mission brown before installing them.

Looks like the edging pins will fit over the edge of the boards, if not I'll run a grove down the back with the angel grinder.

More to come...
