The ALDI WorkZone scroll saw is turning out to be one of the most useful tools in the shop. It has a neat built-in work light but it's not that bright and with ageing eyesight I've decided to add another work light plus a special one under the table for blade changes.
Added another clamp work light on the left.
I do a lot of internal cutting which requires constant blade removal so the side cover is permanently removed. For each internal cut the modified blade (see previous posts) must be removed, the top end passed through the pilot hole from the work piece bottom and then the bottom pin of the blade hooked onto the lower guide...phew. Then while retaining tension secure the top end of the blade with a safety pin, then engage with the guide support and finally re-tension the saw !!!
It's dark in there which makes it harder to engage the bottom blade pin into the guide support, not helped by also trying to hold a small torch.
The battery light is a short length of LED strip stuck onto a wood clamp arm which makes it easier the locate the bottom end of the blade into the blade arm.
I don’t bother with the side panel – it’s permanently removed.
