ALDI - a lucky tool purchase. Why lucky...was waiting for ET at Waverley Gardens and while guarding the trolley this nice elderly ethnic (maybe Italian) couple came strolling past me. The gentleman was pushing a trolley with a big box on top - a mitre saw.

14” Bandsaw – Mounting the motor
14" Bandsaw project - as mentioned in previous posts I gave up with the idea of a hinged motor mount, put that aside and carried on with balancing the lower wheel. With that done we are now back to mounting the motor assembly.
Here I glued and screwed a pine block to the motor base, then drilled and tapped a 3/8" hole for the threaded rod (belt tension). Smeared the tapped hole with Araldite before screwing in the threaded rod.
14" Bandsaw - Balancing the lower wheel.
From the previous session I think I've given up with the hinged motor mount due to excessive belt bounce etc. While thinking about that may as well balance the lower wheel. This is a laborious procedure which will need to be repeated for the upper wheel.
While thinking about some other motor mount arrangement let's balance the lower wheel.

Drone update
Hoping for lighter winds tomorrow to have another go at flying the drone that I got for my birthday. In the meantime was pottering in the workshop today and came across this old fashioned ladies cosmetic case.

14” Bandsaw – Hinged motor mount
Pondering which way to go with this, on the first 14” saw went for the hinged motor mount with a threaded rod for belt tension. From memory there was some shaking, likely belt bounce. With the 8” saw the motor sat on the bottom of the base box in mitre slides with the threaded tension going through the side of the box.
