Helping a friend with oven repairs

Vulcan Everhot 'Sahara' Fan forced Electric wall oven – oven not working.

Off to a mates place today to hopefully repair the above; the actual oven is not working (element OK) but other stuff like the griller works OK.

It's likely that the controller module on the right is faulty, can we bypass that?

The first problem is that the control panel will not fold down enough to allow access to the back!

We had to pull the whole thing out too try and gain access to the back of the control panel from the top.

Two step ladder to get a better view of the internals.

OK...here we are looking at the top, and after taking out some screws (the two at the back corners too hard to get to) we can pull back the top cover.

We have made progress to gain access.

The spade connections at the bottom of the controller are still access restricted and very hard to pull off the terminals!

The controller has two output feeds. I've removed the terminal wire from 4 which feeds the oven circuit...
Closer view.
Bonus...found a small folded circuit diagram of the oven inside the top left corner - at the back. This is a A4 blow-up...we're cooking now

...and hooked it onto this (circled) terminal with a clothes peg (lol) to make a test. That is the fan switch and that terminal has a direct 240V feed. Hopefully we have bypassed the controller and the oven should now work. Fingers crossed turn on circuit breaker and yes - oven works!

We need a piggy back (female to two male) terminal connector so we can connect that 2nd wire. My \mMate went off to Supercheap Auto just down the road and rang to say no-go so off to Middy's electrical not far away - no-go.

Golly...way back in the 60's and 70's the piggy back terminal thing was popular when doing car radio installs.

At this point we have to down tools as family due soon for dinner. Pushed the oven back in and tidy up...and I'm off home.

UPDATE: See next photo.

This is what we need…more to come.
