BlitzWolf Smart Watch - updates

Took me a while to install the FitCloudPro app; supposed to be on PlayStore but not there so had to go searching and get it from the developer. Then more time spent getting the app permissions setup for proper operation.

F1 Facing Car - part 3

Finished installing the LED strip and mounted the car onto the back board.

With the LED strip terminated we can now mount the car.

F1 Facing Car - part 2

Working on the F1 racing car in a A3 photo frame.

Doing a mock-up to see if I'm on the right track (no pun intended). Had to have a think about how to light up this one and that looks good. Customer is very pleased.

Al's Workshop updates

The two bats posted to the US on June 5th are still hanging around in Melbourne - WTF

Now working on the F1 racing car in A3 picture frame and on the side prepping for the next A3 picture light - Serengeti Lion.

The A3 version of the A4 range of silhouette night lights has been popular and certainly justified the purchase of a Canon A3 printer, the two above jobs will pay off the $179 printer (y)

eBay orders for Chinese RGB LED strip lights are taking 3 - 4 weeks for delivery - that's not acceptable!!! We need to do something about that - and I have.

Happy to report I can get most of what I need from a NZ based eBay trader plus another one right here in Glen Iris (Melbourne); the latter in 2 - 3 days - yay.

Not sure if I mentioned - I have put the Batman wall light on hold for several reasons;  the cold weather, need a break from them and more importantly gives me some spare time to further develop the new version which will be USB only. USB with cord will stay at $50 and USB with onboard PowerBank for $65.

Shopping trip

Off to do a bit of shopping and looking forward to getting our regular brand of toilet paper as we just about used up all the crap loo paper purchased during the panic buying period.

Al's Workshop - updates

Some more orders have come in-

Backyard sign - THE DEAD MANS PENNY

Serengeti Lion - like the A3 Giraffe.

Another batman - name PHOENIX.

With regard to the latter I have pulled-the-plug on Batman wall lights for the rest of the winter months - they will be hibernating in the bat cave.

Weather is just too cold out in the workshop and spray painting bats outside even under cover is too difficult and no sun to dry them.

I have also put all my Marketplace adverts into hibernation.

Hurry up Spring!

Territorial boundaries

Pixie not happy that Holly has one paw in her basket - this could escalate!

Bad Grandmas

Movie recommendation from a friend to watch this movie on Tubi.

OLIVER & RILEY RF batman lights – part 1

This set of bats are using RF controllers that don’t require line-of-sight so I don’t have to mount the controller behind bat head with the IR diode poking up – always a tricky part of the build.

I planning to install the controller in the middle below the name cutout and we’ll have to work out that when we get to that part of the lighting stage.

Prepping to cut some blanks.

Al's Workshop updates

Finished the Serengeti Giraffe and made up a more comprehensive grab kit for picture frame hardware and related stuff. In particular those little pan head wood screws that are very handy!

Al's Workshop update

Arrived this afternoon 2 x RF controllers with remotes. This was one of those 'nifty moments' where I came up with the idea to use left over materials - in this case LED strips.

Since the start of COVID how many bats have I done...dunno lost count. Each bat consumes 1.5M so for the 2M light kits that's 0.5 or for 3M light kits 1.5M - leftovers.

This one

The RGB kits range in price from around $12 - $16 and these RF controller kits were about $6 so by using the leftover strips I can save 6 - 10 bucks per bat light. When you working with a dollar here and a dollar there - that's quite a saving!

Serengeti Giraffe progress

With regard to my Al's Workshop 'Serengeti Giraffe silhouette wall light $60' preview post here is the real thing - A3 size Giraffe nearly finished. Doing another check before final assembly tomorrow morning.

Google adverts begone

Got rid of the bloody thing in particular at the top of news articles.

Hosts file

Edit the hosts file in Windows/Sstem32/drivers/etc

Add two 127.0.0.1 loopback entries which basically sends those bloody host names back to the same machine.

Serengeti Giraffe SG01 - part 3

This morning although the sun is out it's bloody cold (again) in the workshop but never mind heat up the glue gun to start doing the giraffe lighting.

Serengeti Giraffe SG01 - part 2

Made another frame that sits on top of the internal frame that will simply house the battery box. I'm using up the COVID toilet paper wherever I can so we can get back to our preferred brand but wait...what was the brand we used ???

Serengeti Giraffe SG01 - part 1

The example giraffe I was making for Marketplace which was just a MS Word mockup has already been sold to a customer in Warranwood, Victoria.

2

Doing a check before I head over to the scroll saw.

Serengeti Giraffe

I posted this on Marketplace as a preview of the upcoming A3 silhouette night light. Making the first one now (see my FB posts) and it's sold already.

Batman Limited Edition prototype Part 1B

Prepping to build prototypes of the new larger Batman 'limited edition' wall light as well as the A3 version of the A4 silhouette night light.

1

The new limited edition will be powered with a low profile Power Bank.

A3 printing capability - yay

With the purchase of a Canon A3 printer I can now offer larger silhouette lights and hoping they attract some attention on Marketplace.

Too kick off I’m starting with this Serengeti Giraffe because African animals are quite a  popular home decor item.

BRIIZER batman wall light

Working on the last bat from what I call the 'COVID batch order' This one is BRIIZER and is headed for Orange County LA, California.

1

Due to international delays last month I purchased from Kmart 2 x USB RGB LED strip 3M lights with IR controller - this is one of them. Must say the quality is good and $15 is OK. Doing a lighting test here after removing the USB cable and hooking up the battery packs.

Holly at vet for checkup

The last few visits have been car park consultations but this time we made it inside – one person with pet.

To cold in the workshop!

Went out for a few hours this morning came back in and not going out again...brrr

The BlitzWolf smart watch is working well; while watching TV notifications coming in including Al's Workshop enquires so back onto the desktop to respond and we have more bat orders plus other stuff. I thought I was going to have rest from making bats.

Medion Wireless Rear View Mirror - Revisited

Purchased this from ALDI in August 2015 and earlier this year it stopped working. I have been dealing all year with the left eyeball and poo...
