BRIIZER - Finishing off

When done will pack carefully for the long trip and post to Orange County LA, California on Monday morning.

1

Battery clamps are fashioned from thin MDF and the Teflon nut with washer provides the right clamping height.

BRIIZER batman wall light 2

Did some more work on BRIIZER.

This is the 'hybrid bat' that uses USB RGB LED strip lights (from Kmart) powered with dual battery packs.

Just finished wiring the battery packs to the USB lights.

Facebook Pages Manager

Having difficulty getting to Al's Workshop from my Facebook page and until now have just been searching for it which is primitive to say the least. Rather coincidental that Facebook popped up a suggestion to install pages manager- nice.

Android TV and Kodi

Tonight's movie recommendation from a friend is to watch Bad Education (Hugh Jackman) on Foxtel Movies. I have Foxtel Now but not the movies but that's not a problem we just used the Kodi Tempest add-on to download the movie in a few minutes.

SCARLETT ballerina Part 5

In the last session we installed LED strip B in the bottom of the frame.

I came back later and installed the LED rice copper string lights onto the back of Scarlett with hot glue.

I did not take photos of that as there are plenty of examples with all the night lights I have posted.

We can now proceed with wiring the lights.

SCARLETT ballerina Part 4

This silhouette light features two sets of LED lights.

The usual silhouette object backlighting (A) as well as bottom edge picture lighting (B)

  • When the battery pack switch is turned on A will light.
  • When the slide switch at the back is turned on B will light.
  • When the battery pack switch is turned off both A & B will turn off.

Here I am soldering fine insulated wires to one end of the B strip.

Hilda Mini Drill - storage box

1

Found a nice tin box.

Hilda Mini Drill–Unpacking

This thing is going to be very useful.

2

First off put the drill on charge.

Posting SASHA and F&TV bonus gift.

Packing and posting the SASHA batman and the bonus Film & TV picture light to Warragul.

First time doing this particular combo - we have to pack 1 x Batman and 1 x Night Light so I got a couple of A3 packing boxes @ $3.64 from Officeworks.

Hilda Mini Drill

Delivered this morning and dropped into my post/parcel drop tray (y)

Film & TV night light - part 3

Made the back frame and sprayed it black so here we can assemble the the back with the internal frame with the photo print sandwiched between the two. Also mounted the camera.

Aligned the photo print and punched through the screw holes with a nail.

SASHA (part 2)

Back home from shopping and out to do some more on SASHA.

Finished running the LED strip and cut a slot for the RF controller. The LED strip on edge is 9mm and the controller on edge is about 12mm so we will have to cut a slot in the actual back panel.

Film & TV night light–part 1

This is a bonus gift for a good bat customer.

This is the mockup done in MS Word.

Holly update – improvement

Holly update–Boronia vet

Just back from Boronia vet where she had a 'carpark consultation' with Doctor Tony. A six year relationship which started when he did her first ACL at 8 and the other at 12. He gave her back end a check over with assorted manipulations and with no complaints from Holly (never does very stoic) gave up and finished with cortisone injection - old age is a bugger.

Mothers gift for ET

Forgot all about the heated throw blanket yesterday at ALDI so went this afternoon to three stores – none! Looks like they never had them in store.

20200510_154703

ET’s hearing is poor; she does have premium hearing aids but doesn't wear them at home.

The ulterior motive behind this purchase is that have to up with a very TV volume!

Mothers Day 2020

This photo from yesterday when we visited the folks at Springvale cemetery where ET did her usual thing with four bunches of flowers for both our mums.

97335699_10223191346554693_931764305571872768_o

Sadly the cemetery is being over run by Asians Sad smile

To give you some idea I call this ‘Row 1992’; people put to rest Circa 1990.
From here on to the right there are no English letters or numbers to be seen!

BlitzWolf BW-HL2 smart watch - 2

As posted I am mainly interested in the notifications side of things, in particular promptly responding to enquires from Al's Workshop or Markeplace. Feeling a bit more comfortable now that I found a review that reports on this in more detail.

BlitzWolf® BW-HL2 smart watch - 1

Just purchased this off BangGood.

This is mainly for Al’s Workshop – why it that?

I need to watch out for and promptly respond to my customers so came up with idea of a smart watch in particular for the notifications and messaging features. I will now be able to move around freely and stay in touch; providing of course I stay within Bluetooth range of the phone.

Stay tuned…

CANON PIXMA iX6860 A3+ Home Office Printer–setup

Unboxed and setup the printer downstairs in my study. The CD install is very straightforward; opted for LAN connection and at one point prompted to press one of the two buttons and count 11 flashes and release - LAN setup complete.

Using Holly's entry foyer IP camera to monitor the printing progress.

Todays ‘essential’ shopping trip

Carefully planned the round trip:

  • Picked up the Canon A3 printer from Scorptec
  • KFC for lunch
  • Bunnings for MDF and paint primer
  • Dropped off ET’s chicken soup to a isolated old person (doing our bit)
  • Finally OfficeWorks for A3 copy and photo paper, spray on adhesive and Powerbank for the new 'limited edition' Batman wall light

Then home.

I'll go down later to my study and setup the new printer - right there in that spot.

Tickled pink that it even has a LAN connection and…the Telstra Smart Modem has one vacant port left. Will also run USB to the study Windows 10 desktop PC.

Batman Hybrid version (part 1)

Several months of R&D culminates here with this bat by the name of SASHA. We are switching from IR controller powered by 3 X AA battery pack (plus dummy battery pack on the other side to balance the light) to USB RF controller powered by dual 2 x AA battery packs – no line of sight issues.

0

Last week I did some testing and measuring in particular current consumption off power supply (simulating 5V USB power) and on batteries. I am comfortable that dual 2 x AA battery boxes will provide good battery life.

Al's Workshop updates

Technology purchase-

After a lengthy period of mulling decided to get this A3 printer for printing cutting templates and photo print backgrounds for photo frames plus other nifty stuff.

PIXMA-iX6860

I will now of course be able to offer larger silhouette night lights and bigger bats and not have to stitch together A4 pages or fool around with fiddly poster print settings.

Holly to vet–monthly check-up

Waiting at Boronia vet with Holly – in the car park Smile

95956549_10223137369125291_1254134715334524928_o

SCARLETT ballerina Part 3

From the last session we prepared Scarlett for cutting out on the scroll saw.

Here she is placed on the background, looks OK so let's give her a mat black spray paint.

Happy bat customer.
