The wheel needs to be mounted on the workbench so I removed the lower shaft from the saw and made a temporary mount for it which is clamped to the workbench.
It's best to have some sort of reference pointer when checking for wheel wobble. With the flange held with four clamps the idea is to rotate the wheel and stop where it's closest to the pointer (smallest gap) and tap left-to-right with a small hammer. Repeat the process (patience is required) until the gap remains even, then move the pointer up till it's not quite touching the wheel and check for wobble again. When fully tightening the clamps keep checking for wobble.
The flange has a pre drilled hole in each corner so we now use each one of those as a guide to drill through into the wheel itself so that when we remove the flange to apply glue there are 4 location holes on the wheel itself so the flange will (should) mount back in exactly the same place and wobble should not be effected. Don’t forget to mark one side of the flange and the wheel so you have a reference point for correct orientation of the flange block. Carefully remove ONE clamp to make room and drill through into the wheel – not to far. Now run in a screw and one corner of the flange block is done. Remove the opposite clamp and do the same again, drill a pilot hole into the wheel itself and run in a screw – half way there – do the other two.
