A few days ago I blogged about my homemade jigsaw table and since then have been trying it out cutting various things with different shapes etc.
The thought come to mind to give it the ‘ultimate test’ so to speak - cut some wood gears.
Well…it passed
From a gear generator program I printed out some gears on A4 paper and stuck it to piece of laminated chipboard with a glue stick, then roughly went around and cut them out on the 9” bandsaw.
This takes some patience, I have never done this before but it seemed to make sense to cut one side of each tooth in one direction like clockwise, than come back the other way to cut the other side of each tooth. When going round on the first trip I cut all the way to the bottom and simply backed out and onto the next one. When cutting the other side I also took out the bottom of each gear with the front of the blade – if that makes sense.
More to come…
