Mulling over getting a new i7 tower to replace the Balcony PC which is a Scorptec E5200/G31M-SL2/4GB/GT210 about 8 years old. Meanwhile...we could jazz up the current one so ordered a Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 2.8 GHz 3 MB Cache 1066 MHz FSB LGA 775 CPU Processor from a NSW eBay guy for $8.90. If this works out I'll get a 120/250GB SSD and maybe do another CPU upgrade.

Computers continued
Meanwhile in the workshop we are reviving a couple of Dell towers. One of them is a beautiful (but aging) Precision 670 workstation with dual Xeon processors but only 1GB RAM. Browsing eBay I can get typically get 4GB of ECC for around $40 bucks - might do that.

ALDI - Home Security System

Noticed last week that one reappeared in the glass cabinet marked down from $199 to $149, checked on the Winplus site and the cameras do have a higher res etc. so went back and got it. I swapped two cameras out and the res improvement is minimal however the night IR performance has markedly improved. More to come...
