Planer thicknesser - planer fence (part 3)
From the last session we’ll start making the knobs for the threaded rod.
ALERT - ALDI Workzone 4Ah batteries.
Bought one reduced from $40 to $30 a week ago for the Workzone cordless mitre saw (which needs 4ah not 2ah) so I don't have to keep nicking one of the 4ah batteries from the two cordless drills. Only went to use the mitre saw two days ago and the fully charged battery cuts out !!! Checked the saw with both the other batteries - working fine. Gave the new battery another check and saw starts and then stops. OK…exchanged that for another one yesterday and the same thing - cuts out. Back to get a refund for that battery.
I suspect a batch problem so returned for refund and will wait for next time around.

Planer Thicknesser fence - Part 2
Continuing on from the first session here we are making the moveable part of the sliding fence.
Planer Thicknesser fence - Part 1
The unit works really well. Here for the first time I’ve just run some timber through the thicknesser and now cleaning up the edges.
One thing I’m already thinking about is uneven blade wear. The fence side of the blades is going to get a lot of use which is likely to show up when using the thicknesser. If that fence could be moved across the table that would even out blade wear.
