14” Bandsaw - Vertical post support

With the base box motor and lower wheel ready we can start to plan the vertical post that will support the upper wheel mount assembly on a horizontal arm support.

Using a length of 90 x 70 pine that sill be beefed up with more timber and bracing later on.

Workshop – Going to be very hot

Time is 11.24AM on January 6th 2017.

JY018 Pocket Drone – spare props

Downed drone update - 70th birthday present which is now over a month ago and still not flown the bloody thing! Been waiting on the eBay spare order – 10 packets (4 per pack)

Drone comes with a spare prop set including a little remove/install tool.

Note that all four props are different; A1-A2 and B1-B2. Interesting that the B2 prop kept coming off and in the end got lost. OK...fitted the spare B2 prop to have another go and again crashed, lost that one as well - bugger.

14” Bandsaw-Vertical post preparation

I need to know exactly where to locate the top edge of the upper wheel assembly horizontal support arm and mark that off on the vertical support.

For that we need to measure the distance between the shaft or bearing centres plus allow for thickness of the tyres and then subtract from that figure enough slack clearance to allow the blade to slip onto the wheels.

To measure the centres the blade needs to be mounted on the wheels, don’t want to fiddle with something that has very sharp teeth so as before I’ll use banding tape in place of the blade.

14” Bandsaw–move it off bench

From the previous post and before it gets to heavy I need to move the saw off the workbench and onto a stand or table. Would also be nice to move it around easily.

Found the low table in the downstairs rumpus room that I used for the first bandsaw but, also came across this TV stand. Replaced the feet with a ALDI castor set, one pair lockable.

14" Bandsaw - sneak preview of next stage

Sneak preview of next stage of the build process.

Before I go any further I need to go find in the downstairs rumpus room (store room) the low sturdy table that I used to stand the first bandsaw on, that one turned out to be 6'8" high - and I am 6'2".

Doing some layout planning for the upper wheel support arm to find where it needs to be located on the vertical post. I have a length of timber clamped the lower wheel to measure the wheel centres – see next photo.

Another new toy for kitties.
