Free stuff
For the last few months the elderly couple across the road have been preparing to move out (rented property) which coincided with our annual rubbish collection earlier this month. So yeah...got some pickings off their pile of stuff.

Bandsaw 6 - Lower wheel drive pulley
The lower wheel has a drive pulley with a V-grove to accommodate the notched V belt.
To cut the grove in the drive pulley I need to some how spin the thing so I made a smaller pulley and cut a V grove in that on the router table with a V grove bit, then attached the temp pulley to the drive pulley so I could spin it up off the motor!
I don't have any wood turning tools so I hade to make my own to cut the V-groove by grinding down a old file to the correct V profile and then put a cutting edge on it. Once all this prep work was done actually cutting the V-grove was quite straight forward.

Holly update
It's been one month since Holly had her knee op - crikey. Tonight she is booked in for another check up and then we start her rehab, daily walks of 10 mins for the first week and then increasing that by 10 mins for the remaining 7 weeks – that’s 2 months!
Update - Just got back from the vet and all good, after the 8 week rehab period it’s back to the Vet for a final check up which includes a x-ray.

Digital Photo Tachometer
Purchased one of these off Ebay for around $20 bucks so I can measure the speed of things, in particular the bandsaw.
Been going around measuring stuff that rotates – interesting.

Bandsaw 5 – Skateboard bearings
I need some bearings for the blade guides and fortuitously came across a skateboard (kids grown up & left home) while putting stuff out for our annual council clean up – nice.
Skateboards have 2 bearings per wheel so I now have a set of eight.

Bandsaw 4 - Motor pulley
The new motor pulley that I made needs some grub screws to secure it to the motor shaft so back to Masters hardware.
Two packets of assorted grub screws – nice.
