Finally gave in and bought a rice cooker.
What triggered the purchase was that my older daughter could not get one at her local Kmart so I did the walking and managed to do a click & collect at out local Brandon Park Kmart – so I bought two of them.

Measured out for 4 cups of Basmati rice and then washed under running water to remove the starch.
Happy with the results.
Nice and fluffy but the grains a touch hard so will leave for extra 5mins on Warm next time.
