Nice pickup from the Salvos, a Samsung TV in very good condition complete with remote control and power cable for $40 bucks.
One minor issue, the remote battery cover is missing - that's fine.
Collie pair on stands plus 'Moon Collie' picture frame light.
The customer bought my Moon Collie that was advertised on Marketplace. During messenger chat invited him to visit Al's Workshop where he came back and also ordered the Collie pair…nice
As posted neighbour gave me this machine last Saturday and been keen to have a play but been busy with customer jobs. Completed all those jobs this morning so here I am trying out the thicknesser AKA jointer…more to come.
The new Vodafone TV box is working well and so is Kodi with the Tempest add-on. Installed ABC iView and while browsing that came across Agatha Raisin - can I download that series ?
Went into Kodi and started the Tempest add-on, then under TV Shows did a people search for Ashley Jensen and from the list clicked on Agatha Raisin.
The stands are stained and drying so started doing the lighting on the smooth Collie.
As mentioned got a order for a Collie pair from the customer that has also purchased the 'Blue Moon Collie' in picture frame that was advertised on Marketplace.
My neighbour who also has a woodworking workshop came over to see what I'm up to with my silhouette night lights and related stuff like name signs. Went over to help him with something and came back with a nifty bench top planer thicknesser - wow. Bought it, never used it…take it mate…
ALDI Workzone Bench Top Planer Thicknesser - it's bloody heavy. Walked pass this many times thinking should I get one, they sell for $299
Got a HP Pro 3130 mini tower SSF from one of the regular PC guys.
Got a nice customer order this morning for three Collie night lights as per photos. The moon Collie is already done and was advertised on Marketplace so I just need to make the Collie pair with timeline for early next week.
With the main repairs done gave the mower a good test run yesterday afternoon.
Nature strip, front yard, back yard - everything in sight that was green.
Importantly hot starts are good.
VICTA 4 Stroke 19" STATESMAN 550 mulching mower – Start-up video clip.
The repairs went well with a satisfying DIY outcome and the parts cost $29 - happy with that.
Purchased in 2008 for $399 and has the larger Briggs & Stratton 5.5HP 4 Stroke Engine. Still a couple of things on the list, damaged wheel and that dodgy recoil starter.
Have to clean all that out plus wash parts with petrol which means I have to go get more stuff so wait till later when the rain eases off - down tools again.
Went down to the mower place to get the parts and when I got back, we had to quickly get the chooks sorted out before the rain came down - what a change. Went out to continue mower repairs but gave up for now with everything pulled back into the carport - away from the rain.
Victa Briggs & Stratton mulching mower will not start (bugger)
Since the last time I serviced the mower a few years ago it's been running well and now suddenly with no warnings - will not start ???
There are a couple of things creeping in lately, harder to prime and the recoil starter is dodgy - slack cord.
Setup a couple of cameras connected to the Workshop CCTV system to monitor the little buggers in the chook run annex.
Was in Bunnings the other day and something reminded me of this 2016 project gathering dust under a workbench.
The basic concept is if you have a problem with unwelcome visitors (daytime/nocturnal…anytime) this is for you. Originally I came up with this idea to solve a particular problem, to keep a daytime prowling cat out of the backyard that was stalking our chooks. After I do a review of this with some costing I'll put it up on Al's Workshop - see what happens.
On the left is a water solenoid and to the right the control box. I'll do another post explaining how this works along with a demo in the backyard.
Rather coincidental that it's Sunday morning and I'm prowling the local Anglican churches and related groups to promote my religious night lights.
First night and took Holly and Sprocket out for toilet break. On the way back in and not used to our routines he just just laid down in the carport – so left him there.
As mentioned last post we have eight visitors boarding with us for the week, here are the other seven - chooks !!!
Did not want to go in as they are pretty scared, I'll take more photos later plus setup a live stream chook camera.
We are looking after Sprocket our younger daughter’s greyhound and also 7 of her chooks for a week
This is Sprocket he’s very lay back and spends most of the day in a horizontal position. As posted not happy with the prices of solar lighting so getting some stuff to design & make my own, like this solar panel.
Besides the normal Windows backup stuff I like to manually backup the Camera Photos directory to the external Seagate Expansion Drive attached to the Lenovo AIO desktop. Have not done so since about October last year - pretty slack.

About 90% done with wiring the lights and will finish in the morning. Just went back (can't wait) to see how it looks at night time - took some photos and a video clip. Sent them off to customer and she is very happy so on the right track. Remember…this is my first hot wheels sign.
Hot Wheels job been waiting a week for the LED Fairy String Lights (16 Colors) that finally arrived this morning.
Al's Workshop - Country property name signs.
Country property or suburban solar powered signs hand made to order in my hobby shop. This semi rustic example is made from fence timber (palings) with LED strip solar lighting and would cost around $75.
Sprocket came up from downstairs to check-in with me on the balcony so gave him a scratch under chin.
Purchased this from ALDI in August 2015 and earlier this year it stopped working. I have been dealing all year with the left eyeball and poo...
