Cable internet down
Cable internet down last night around midnight, we are on Telstra BigPond and the Netgear CGD24N was obviously not establishing a connection with Send flashing and the Receive light off. We also have Foxtel (from Telstra) which uses the same cable and that was working normally which usually means there is no physical cable fault and the problem is within the BigPond network – which is good. Never mind off to bed and see if it’s back in the morning.
Woke this morning around eight (retirement life is good) and went through the usual boot-up sequence, out with the dogs to do their business and down to the chooks to let them out and put their feed containers down which I store overnight in a metal cabinet to deter nocturnal visitors (rats and mice).
While they have breakfast I go into the garage and turn on the cook-cam, a aging AXIS network camera that overlooks the main chook run and adjoining annex area, then back into the shed to clean their boxes by which time the girls have wandered off into the garden to start another day. Time for a cuppa so I close the inside gate to keep the birds out (they carry mites which can quickly infest the coupe) and leave the annex gate open.
While waiting for the kettle to boil overheard the wife (ET) talking to one of the kids on the phone…something about no internet last night; forgot all about that! – now that’s not good. Back downstairs to check the modem in my study and both the RX an Tx lights are on solid – OK.
