ALDI: 8 Bottle Wine Cooler $79.99

  • Thermoelectric technology
  • Celsius or Fahrenheit switch, digital temperature range from 8-18 degrees.
  • 50(h) x 25 (d) x 49.5 (w)cm

The bar fridge down at the horse agistment that we use for storing carrots (horses like them) has decided that 2011 is it’s last year of operation. No complaints it must be over 20 years old, thermostat appears to be working OK but when it cuts in compressor just hums – or whines no pun.

Now that we are retired we have to watch the pennies, went around looking at bar fridge’s around 100 litres capacity and they start around the $200 mark – ouch. Wandering around ALDI noticed that the wine cooler on sale a few weeks before was marked down to $69 bucks. Could we use this to store the carrots? Worth a try so chucked one in the trolley.

The wine cooler is in my study on test, loaded with 6 bags of (ALDI) carrots. With fans in the back and the front control panel it’s like a PC tower. Note the fridge thermometer in there, also purchased from ALDI.

Thermoelectric cooling is pretty gutless, it took a few hours for the temp to drop down to the lowest pre-set which is supposed to be 8 degrees. One reads 7 and the other 11 ???

Anyway packed it all up and setup in one of our sheds at the agistment, time will tell if we have happy carrots and if not – will return.
