ALDI: Home Automation Kit $39.95
This was a fantastic purchase, I have four on outside lights around the house and one on the rainwater tank pump. |
ALDI: Extension Cord Safety Lock $2.99
I bought a few of these, simple but very handy.
This Christmas will make three years since I installed a rain tank behind the garage and running power from the garage to the pump is still on the job list – LOL. So I am using one of these on the extension cable – for now.
Also use one on the pressure washer.

This STB was a nightmare and I was close to returning for a refund but AKAI/AUDION came good with a couple of firmware updates that fixed all the main issues and added a couple of features. Read all about it on DTV Forum. The latest V1.3 FW update can be obtained from AUDION. The only issue I have now is that the program title of a timer record is stamped with the title of the previous show. I can live with this so overall a good outcome. I purchased the Imation Apollo Portable 500GB USB Hard Drive for the STB from JB Hi-Fi for $109 as advertised in their catalogue. When I went to buy they were $139 so I said to the nice lady serving me I want that for $109 as per the current catalogue, she was not sure and got someone else involved to discuss and while they were doing that I brought up their website on a Apple Mac (LOL) and they agreed $109 was OK so I had a win.

ATECH Deluxe Wireless Weather Station
Model WS-303-ED-RC
Got this last year for my birthday - thanks older kid. Worked well but this year part of the the main display blanks out, the time and external temp are OK but the rest including the barometer graph kind of fade out? Change batteries and OK for hour or so then fades out. Tried different batteries etc. This need further investigation. No problem with the external unit over wireless and good life from a CR2032. More to come... The ATECH website (http://www.atech.hk/) is p.a.i.n.f.u.l.l.y s.l.o.w - Adobe Flash. I wanted to download the manual but everything is "locked" and you get prompet for a client login WTF. Over a period of months I filled out numerous request forms and sent many e-mail's - not one response. |
